This a great place for dogs and owners. It is designed so that dogs can play wth each other while owners talk and watch over their dogs. Our young dog has really benefitted from being able to play regularly with other dogs and meet people who are dog wise and friendly. She is much better socialised as a result.  This place is fun for dogs and people!

We have been taking our pup there for about 6 weeks now & this has socialised him well he is good with both large breeds & small breeds of dogs. He even gets a little testy when he has not been there for a few days.  The people we have met there are always friendly & mostly the owners watch over their dogs in case play gets a little silly.  The water fountain is brilliant as it can always be topped up with fresh water & our pooch is learning to use the jumps & equipment set up for the dogs.  Overall our visits are rewarding for both us & our dog.  Thanks Charles Sturt Council.

Today Sunday 10th July our toy poodle ‘Harvey’ was savagely attacked by two dogs at Pooch Park. He suffered a broken back and severe internal injuries and as a result had to be put down. Pooch park has in the past been terrific for our dogs. But it just took 2dogs to change that. We are heartbroken as Harvey had been a truly loved member if our family for 13 years. We will never go to that park again.

Anne – we’re so sorry to hear about what happened to Harvey. What an awful story. Dog parks can be such great fun places for pooches (and their owners) – but it relies on all owners acting responsibly and ensuring their dogs are appropriately trained and supervised.

Anne, I heard about this attack just today. I am devastated for you! I have two small dogs and started attending the park recently. Initially, I was worried that the larger dogs were too big and boisterous for my small two but all has been going well. That is, until I saw an American Staffy break his leather collar and his owner had zero control. This dog was not aggressive…he just wanted to play but I can’t help but feel that it could have been a similar situation to you. I think this pooch park is great…but for large dogs, not small :-(

So sorry to hear about Harvey and what a terrible loss for you. I lost my dog Axle on 5 July, 2011, due to a spinal or disk injury. I had him put down because he became paralysed and the vet said that even if he had surgery there was little chance of him walking again.
He was a big beautiful dog and he loved the Pooch Park. I don’t know how he got his injury or where it happened but I do recall one occasion where I was really concerned about another dog charging up and biting his neck. Hard sometimes to tell if the dogs are playing or have some nasty intent to injure.
I’ll never know for certain what happened to my dog but I recommend others to be watchful of there pet at dog parks.
