hey guys has anyone been here and can verify just how fenced and “safe” this place is. i have a border collie who scaled the fence at the Epping Trial dog park…
it seems the council didnt understand the concept of fenced in and didnt put dog proof fencing up which is a real shame

I have a labrador (nine months old) this enclosure is perfect. If your dogs likes to mix he/she will be too busy with all the dogs to think about escaping. The majority of the fence is approx 1 and half metres.

      Enjoy!!

We found this place to be too small. If there had been other dogs there it would have been crowded. Also the kennel cough warnings were the icing on the cake. Big disappointment :(

I have a 2 year old lab and found the park to be good, not too small. Good for socialising your dog as long as they all get along. I understand the park will be closed for a week from 7 November 2011 as the council work on the fence, the entrance and exit.

I find this park really great for my dog – he’s a pug though so size isn’t really a problem! Very secure and the new entrance is great. All the other dogs there have always been well socialised.

Took my dog there today. He loved it. It’s a Sunday and there were lots of obedience school things going on at the dog club next door, so when they finished up (around 10:45 AM) it got quite busy, around 20ish dogs at that time. Lots of fun, all sorts of dogs. All the owners were friendly. The council supply the poo bags and the water which is awesome because then all you need is a lead to walk your dog in and youre set!

This park is a little bit small, so its more about the dogs socialising and having a run around together. It’s about half the size of a footy oval. maybe a tad under.

Another thing, parking is not on Bunjil Way, its on the next road east, the road you would go down to get to the dog club.

Why is it that when they zone an area “off lead dog park” it is always the worst plot of ground the council can find. The dog park at Knox is quite small especially when you get a few large dogs in there and, once it’s rained, it is like a bog and can’t be used at all. Dogs need walking in all weather and this park is virtually useless in winter as it has no drainage.

Cat owners are still allowed to let their cats roam around during the day, defacating anywhere they please. Dog owners are doing the right thing but are being penalised for it.

Come on Councils, give dog owners a fair go. We’ve had so much land taken from us for walking dogs, the least you could do is give us a decent piece of land to walk our canine friends.

I find that the fences are not nearly dog proof, any half decent size dog could jump them, if attacked by another dog and it is right on the main road, my dog couldn’t use any of the equipment and there isn’t any space to run, it a poor excuse as a dog park my dogs pen at home is better fenced and not much smaller, seriously, it gives no sense as a dog park it is a dog run, boggy and dangerous.

The fences are fine and as the park is in a bit of a depression, a dog would be running uphill to jump over most of them(particularly near the road). It is a bit dusty and that’s a result of the size of the park that!s open in January 2013, but the council has closed part of the area so grass can grow there. Not sure if this is a long term strategy to have one open and the other closed. The adjoining general-use park is well grassed and fenced allowing for games.. The only downside on the day we were there was a staffycalled Dante who was aggressive and who had a go at a couple of dogs before his owner took him away. . He seemed to be a local as his owner walked him home.

It has been expanded and there is room for a lot of dogs, but so far the two parts are yet to be opened together :( The biggest disappointment was that it was built in a natural basin, and even with drainage it gets very wet – in fact at times swampy! Water on tap, ‘doggy poo bags’ often available for free, good parking.
