A designated area bound by Federation Road, Church Street, the St Stephens Church wall and the diagonal path leading from the church boundary to Federation Road is a timed off leash dog exercise area. Dogs can run and play without a leash in the timed off leash dog exercise area between the hours of 5pm and 9am seven days a week. Dogs must be on a leash in the timed off leash dog exercise area between the hours of 9am and 5pm and all other areas of the park at all times.

I am a local of Camperdown Memorial Park, and I am a dog owner. I work shift work as a nurse and I am restricted with the off leash hours of this park due to my work hours. It is inconvenient to walk or drive to Sydney park due to Newtown traffic, or O’Dea park due to the dog types that frequent the park. I am restricted for time and my dog needs a good run and socialise with other dogs, and my walk pace is no match to him running across the park chasing the ball. There is also a beautiful community amongst dog walkers who meet at the Camperdown Memorial Park.It is for these reasons I am asking for a section of the park, i.e. the rectangle north aspect, to be off leash all hours. I believe Marrickville council is a dog friendly council, so I do hope you will take this request on board.

I am a Newtown resident and would like to see the off leash hours extended to be 24 hours. After 5pm is not convenient enough at certain times of year as well as certain days of the week.
