The August issue of G magazine has some great ideas about how we can reduce the environmental impact of our pets and the choices we make for them.
Here are a couple of featured products that caught my eye…
Shift! Eco Bokashi for Pet Waste. Basically the microbes in this powder assist in breaking down the waste so that all the organic material including the nutrients are returned to the soil, without odour, flies or other problems.
Skooperbox. Dog poop that is left on the street can pollute rivers and beaches and is unpleasant for other park/beach users. Ordinary plastic bags don’t easily break down and will stay in landfill for years. The Skooperbox is a great alternative to plastic bags as it is made from 100% biodegradable recycled paper and even contains a clip to attach to your leash.
We’re constantly expanding the Doggo database, and today we’ve added another 25+ Melbourne dog parks and beaches. Most of the newly listed parks are located in the Stonnington, Bayside, and Glen Eira City Council areas.
Remember that you can now add reviews and ratings to all of the Doggo listings. We also love to receive photos of you and your poochy pals enjoying the parks - you can send them to us at contact[at]doggo.com.au
Undercover rangers from the City of Sydney will be pinging careless dog owners a $275 fine for failing to bag and bin their dog’s poop, according to smh.com.au.
The plain clothes rangers will begin their patrols of all areas in the City of Sydney (including off-leash parks) from mid-July 2008. So, don’t forget your bags when you’re out and about enjoying your favourite off-lead area!
