Updated City of Sydney parks

18 October 2008 2 Comments

We’ve updated Doggo to reflect the changes to off-lead park arrangements in the City of Sydney that were agreed earlier this year. The City of Sydney now has 33 full-time off-leash parks out of the City’s 350 parks.

Sydney dog-park users can now add reviews and ratings of their favourite parks. And if you’ve got any pics of your pooches enjoying one of the off-lead areas we’d love for you to send them to us at contact [at] doggo.com.au.

I heard you had a test to show your off leash abilities with your dogs to gain freedom in your parks. Is this true? Where can I view the test? I would like to bring this concept up here in the United States.

    Kindest regards,

    Gleanna

    Hi Gleanna,

We’re not aware of any test that allows you to use off-lead parks. Most public off-lead areas are free for any dogs and their owners to use provided that they adhere to any rules and regulations set out by the local council.

Some local councils offer discounted registration for dogs that are ‘obedience trained’. This usually involves reaching a certain level with a recognised dog training club/provider.
